We recently had the opportunity to partner with Colleen Brennan on a campaign video supporting her run for the Douglas County Board and it ended up being one of those times where the message and the medium just clicked.
We’ll be honest: politics isn’t always our lane. But people are. Character and Intent is. And from the first conversation, Colleen was clear about what she wanted her campaign to stand for – character over gamesmanship. No flashy theatrics. No manufactured outrage. Just something grounded, direct, and centered on the everyday concerns of the people she hopes to represent.
That’s something we can work with.
Our goal in developing this video was to take that clarity and build a visual identity around it. We worked closely with Colleen to shape the messaging around the questions she believes should guide every county-level decision:
What will it cost?
Will it help?
Will it actually work?
Creatively, we kept it straightforward. Clean visuals. Honest pacing. We were able to catch lightning in a bottle, we focused on authentic engagement on the real people that came out to her announcement events. It was unique, not having to make a script or make something less dynamic, it was real and honest and made our job easier!
Brand-wise, we focused on approachability and trust. The kind that doesn’t need dramatic music or rapid cuts to feel compelling. When the foundation is solid, the creative can breathe.
If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look. It’s a piece we’re proud of, and a reminder of always encouraging the vote, and supporting democracy.
