The Mildred D. Brown Memorial Study Center, named for the founder and longtime publisher and owner of the Omaha Star, Nebraska’s oldest and longest running African-American owned newspaper, see 2015 as a big year for them, bringing a renewed energy of expanding their operation to bring in even more students and programs.

We produced a short documentary style piece telling her story for Omaha investors to share her story with a larger audience. Interviewing various journalists and community leaders, from the director of the Nebraska Press Association, the founder of the Omaha World Herald, to photojournalists that worked on her paper, to her niece, Dr. Marguerita Washington, who currently runs the newspaper today.
